For the uninitiated, the words Tai Chi Chuan bring to mind pictures of a graceful, slow dance or a kind of slow motion combat.

Tai Chi Chuan adepts, discover little by little that the movements slow down the body, the mind, intentions and actions.

Tai Chi Chuan is an art based on the smooth flow of energy and numerous complementary forces such as yin & yang, heaven & earth cold & hot etc. Its origins go back to time immemorial.

If you choose to use Tai Chi Chuan to increase your vitality, it must remain an internal martial art. It is most effective when practiced slowly, with patience, flexibility and a certain amount of subtlety that is, surprisingly, precise.

It is a complex and profound art of acting through non action – in the paired movements (tuishou, talou, sanshou...), the rapid movements and even in weaponry use.

It is a sport that requires wit and mind power and they both take a long time to tame! The dictionary calls it a “game with rules".

Some well-used expressions such as “You need to have a strong back”, “Aim for the bull’s eye” or “Don’t lose your sense of direction” take on new meaning when you practice Tai Chi Chuan.

The Chinese say that when we «become centered» the Tao flows through us as we become a piller joining heaven and earth and we consciously become part of “10,000 transformations”.
Intelligence and consciousness are vital.

" The art of Tai Chi Chuan aims at acquiring serenity and self-understanding. It is unquestionably an internal exercise… and yet it is an elaborate and highly efficient method of self-defense. The longer you practice Tai Chi Chuan, the more you realize the infinite subtlety of its movements"
