Those unfamiliar with Tai Chi often assume the sport is limited to a series of slow movements called the Slow Form or Taolou in Chinese. While it is possible to stop after acquiring the Slow Form, Tai Chi is considerably more vast, complete, deep and subtle provided that it is practiced correctly and that the time-honored, “internal” martial art aspects are respected.

Class schedule

Slow Form Classes (B & all)

Classes are open to all levels unless otherwise indicated. They are structured around specific, pedagogical explanations of Tai Chi movements. All classes generally include the entire Slow Form which takes between 30 to 60 minutes. They are held several times during the week and students may attend as often as they care to.

A series of specific, precise movements are the basis of Tai Chi study and must be continually perfected.

Class activities are variable and may include Tai Chi Gong, Tao movements, martial arts applications, Tuishou initiation etc.

“B & all”

refers to classes open to beginners and students at all levels. These classes are structured to facilitate memorization of basic principles of Tai Chi and Tuishou and are more easily accessible then “all & B” classes.

Course Content

Feldenkrais method or PCM (B & all)

Awareness awakening by movement, complementary to the TCC, lessons and seminars provided by S. Zimmer (BP diploma in TCC as well as in PCM). This class is even taken by non TCC-practitioners.

(see presentation).

Space for open work (all)

when the practice room is large enough (St Michel, Halles Sentier), it is arranged that during ME and Special Classes, of higher level, room is made for tenacious or busy beginners, so that they can keep on working... sometimes an elder helps them.

The Medium level classes (ME)

If you wish to take one of those classes, you can first check, upon proposal of your teacher, that you level is sufficient enough for learning the fast form or Kwai Chüan. It is a commitment to regularity, because thoses classes are based on practices by pair (tuishou, sanshou,etc...) for the applications of the Slow Form. Therefore, the respect of your partners requires regularity in attendance.

Content : Kwai Chuan, Applications, Da Lu, Tui Shou, some weapons (the "short" sabre of the Yang school ). Anya Méot checks all along the way that going further is appropriate.

Advanced classes:
Advances Level (AV)

Invitations to those classes depend on the progress, and are not acquired once and for all... Anya Méot sets a program to be followed for each student.

Anyone following an AV class, or part of it, has also to attend both an ME class and a B & all class. Content : Hua Chin (changing energy), Tui Shou and San Shou with partners, Taïchi Dian, Taïchi Dao, (long sabre, sword, two sticks and other weapons such as the pole).

Teachers (T)

There are at least two special sessions per year for teachers of our style. Ask for information.

Places are in limited number, and participation depends on the level, the program...

Teaching continuity

In order for you to practice often enough, and in a fashion similar to when they themselves have learned from Anya Méot, people in charge of classes can take over the teaching, for their own classes or for others.
When she leads a special session, follows Master Tung or takes part in a demonstration abroad, another teacher leads the class. For classes with regular teachers, Anya Méot can occasionnally take over.
